A railway station building on the rural southern outskirts of Berlin: this is where in 1978 Karl-Heinz and Inge Wahl established their bakery that today has more than 200 employees and 31 branches. Their new premises are on the ground floor of a new building on Bestensee station forecourt where there was previously a hotel with a restaurant.
The highlight is the ambience with a railway theme – from the furniture to the decoration.
Guests can enjoy cakes and bakery products as well as breakfast, homemade ice cream and light lunches and dinners in nostalgic carriages, eating areas in the style of a dining car or in small seating nooks designed with attention to detail.
For the materials and surfaces Contour Ladenbau GmbH from Dresden took inspiration from the world of railways and historic stations with clinker walls, steel and oak as a reference to rail tracks, sleepers and the granite of the ballast bed.
The zoned lighting planning takes up the individual atmosphere and function of the different areas. It is the aesthetic common denominator that unites the different areas to a harmonious whole. LED technology is used throughout here.
The BÄRO product range not only offers the right lighting tools for each of the different zones of the room in terms of design; as regards light distribution, standard and special light colours this lively meeting point – which even has a working model railway in the counter display at eye-level with waiting children – boasts a consistently high lighting quality.
