The poissonerie "La Bonne Mer" in Le Bouscat is the third branch of a traditional fishmonger's from Bordeaux. Olivier de Butler, a master of his craft, positions himself at the top of his trade with his extremely high demands on quality and freshness.
And the new building in the little suburban shopping centre also expresses this. Behind the modern glass facade of the building the interior design with a "house in house" wooden structure is reminiscent of typical oyster fishermen's huts in French coastal towns such as Arcachon or Cap Ferret. In this attractive, original and contemporary setting de Butler presents a high-quality and flawless range of fish and seafood coupled with casual seafood dining.
A dark ceiling in the entrance area makes the light wood construction with the typical folding shutters come across all the more intensively. The shutters allow the daylight flooding in through the glass facade to be filtered and modulated in the eating area. The colour spectrum of the floor with irregular mosaic tiles corresponds to the greys and blues of oyster and mussel shells.
For the shop lighting the aim was to support these effects, to divide the different functional areas in the room into zones and also to bring out the character of the fixtures and fittings.
The planners arranged a row of Pendiro EC suspended luminaires above high tables along the glass front. Where the light exits from the translucent cylinders light points can even be seen from outside that symbolise the light reflected on the surface of the sea.
On the other hand aluminium shades give the LED suspended luminaires above the open fish counter a traditional market hall feel. Fitted with the special light colour Fish&Seafood the quality and freshness of the products are showcased with all their nuances.
The use of the special light colour PearlWhite not only perfectly presents oysters; the furnishings in the eating area appear natural and the colours saturated.
