Internationally, the Subway brand stands for uncomplicated and individual in-between meals. Together, the company headquarters and the franchisees are constantly developing the brand design of the restaurant chain - resulting in innovative, market-oriented ideas, for example in terms of architecture and lighting. A current example: the Subway restaurant in Eichenzell near Fulda, which opened in May 2021 in the "Rhönhof" shopping centre near the motorway.
Atmospheric effect
Subway area manager Thorsten Rothämel worked with the lighting specialists from BÄRO to make the lighting in the sandwich restaurant more emotional and individual, as well as to optimally present the food on offer. The consultants recommended the compact and powerful recessed and semi-recessed spotlights from the BÄRO XR design line as tools for this. Intara XR recessed ceiling spotlights are used for basic lighting in the dining area; with the standard light colour 830 they create a pleasantly warm atmosphere at the tables.
Model for other locations
Above the service counter, which is positioned in the room like a white cube, the designers also used Intara XR, but in the special light colour PearlWhite: with a colour temperature of 3100 Kelvin, it has a colour-intensifying effect and thus emphasises the appetising freshness of the diverse sandwich ingredients. Intara XR semi-recessed spotlights are arranged on the room periphery. They accentuate the vertical surfaces with pictures, lettering and the striking Subway logo. Discreetly used LED light lines as well as decorative pendant luminaires round off the design, which offers guests a new, spacious experience of the brand and its products in an area of only 100 m2. The response from customers, staff and operators of the newly opened restaurant was so positive that many elements of the lighting concept are to be transferred to other locations.
